England continued with their bazball approach which led them to defeat Pakistan in the first of the three Test matches which was played in Rawalpindi thanks to their amazingly aggressive batting on day one of the Test match.
After centuries from Zak Crawley (122), Ben Duckett (107), Ollie Pope (108), and Harry Brook (153), England made 657 runs. Pakistan then replied back with 579 runs with centuries from openers Imam Ul Haq (121), Abdullah Shafique (114) ad captain Babar Azam (136), while debutant Will Jacks took 6 wickets.
England continued with their approach and put up 264/7 declared in their second innings with Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, and Joe Root scoring half-centuries, with Stokes setting 343 runs for Pakistan to chase down on the final day.

Imam and Azhar Ali made 40 odd runs each, Mohammad Rizwan made 46 runs, while Saud Shakeel made 76 on his debut. But four wickets each from James Anderson (4/36) and Ollie Robinson (4/50), was enough for England to dismiss Pakistan for 268 runs and win the first Test by 74 runs.
This match became the highest-scoring Test ever to produce a result with an aggregate of 1768 runs. The second Test match will be played in Multan from December 9 onwards.
