PAK v ENG 2022: Liam Livingstone ruled out of remainder of Test series with knee injury

Livingstone injured his right knee while fielding on the boundary on Day 2 of Rawalpindi Test.

Liam Livingstone | GettyEngland all-rounder Liam Livingstone was on Monday (December 5) ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against Pakistan after picking a knee injury during the first match in Rawalpindi.

Livingstone, who made his Test debut in Rawalpindi, injured his right knee while fielding on the boundary on Day 2 of the match. He didn’t take the field during Pakistan's first innings and scored an unbeaten 7 while batting in England's second innings.

However, Livingstone looked in clear discomfort as he hobbled between the wickets. Earlier, he had contributed 9 in the visitors’ first innings.

"England Men's all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been ruled out of the rest of the Test series against Pakistan with a right knee injury," England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

"He will return to the UK on Tuesday and commence rehab with the ECB and Lancashire medical teams respectively."

At this stage, England have yet to make a decision to call up a replacement.

Coming to the Rawalpindi Test match, the tourists racked up a mammoth 657/10 in their first innings with four batters namely Harry Brook (153), Zak Crawley (122), Ben Duckett (107) and Ollie Pope (108) smashing centuries.

The hosts responded by scoring 579/10 with three of their batters – Abdullah Shafique (114), Imam-ul-Haq (121) and Babar Azam (136) – slamming hundreds.

England declared their second innings at 264/7, setting a target of 343 for Pakistan.
