PAK v ENG 2022: Stuart Broad rested as England announce 15-member squad for upcoming Pakistan Test tour

England will play three Tests on the tour of Pakistan.

England cricket team | GettyEngland and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday (October 12) announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan.

It will be England’s first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005. For the historic tour, Ben Stokes has been named captain while Liam Livingstone and Keaten Jennings have earned recalls to the Test side.

Livingstone is likely to make his Test debut in Pakistan after having returned to the red-ball set-up for the first time in three years.

All-rounder Will Jacks has also received his maiden call-up to the Test squad after an impressive summer saw him play an integral part with bat and off-spin, helping Surrey win the County Championship Division One title.

Meanwhile, veteran Stuart Broad has been rested for the Test tour of Pakistan.

“Nottinghamshire seam bowler Stuart Broad was not considered for selection, with his partner expecting their first child towards the end of November,” ECB’s statement read.

However, speedster Mark Wood returns to the Test squad for the first time since March and Surrey quick Jamie Overton is included after making his Test debut earlier in the summer against New Zealand.

"We are looking forward to touring Pakistan as a test team for the first time since 2005," said Rob Key, Managing Director for England Men's Cricket. "It will be a historic tour and a compelling series against a good side.

"The selectors have picked a squad for the conditions we can expect in Pakistan. There is a strong blend of youth and experience and players who will adapt well to the types of pitches we are likely to get across the three-match series."

The three-match Test series will be played in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi from December 1 to December 21.
