Jaffer feels India's chances of winning will rise with good total considering they have two spinners for last innings.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer passed on a suggestion to the Team India batsmen playing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in coded words. Jaffer, in his YouTube video, said he wants India to bat with 'Ghajini' mindset. ‘Ghajini’ is a popular Bollywood movie that featured Aamir Khan who suffers a short-term memory loss.

Jaffer said Indian batsmen should forget the last delivery they faced and they must focus on the next one. He knows there will be many plays and misses in English conditions and that's when the batsman needs to be mentally prepared.

The first day of the match was washed out due to rain and the second day saw interruptions because of bad light. “Batters have to return and get settled again. Bowlers don’t mind these conditions because they have to bowl a spell and then rest," Jaffer said.

Currently, India's captain Virat Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (29*) are batting together with India three down on 146 runs at the end of Day 2. Jaffer was happy with the way Kohli and Rahane handled the innings when India lost three wickets in quick succession.

“Their mindset was positive. Whenever there was a chance, they scored runs. The ball has to be played very late as I have said before," Jaffer said.

He continued, “In England you have to bat with Ghajini mindset too. Forget what happened with the previous delivery. In English conditions, there will be several occasions when you play and miss. And that’s what happened to Kohli and Rahane too. So it’s important to focus on the next delivery and forget about the one gone by."

Jaffer also pointed out the rough patches on the pitch due to the footmarks which will help Indian spinners in the last innings of the match. India are playing with two spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin, while Kiwis have an all-pace attack.

“If India manages to 275-300 on this pitch, their chances to win the contest will rise. I feel the ball will spin on this track because the rough patches left by New Zealand left-arm pacers will help (Ravichandran) Ashwin. And similarly, the roughs created by right-arm pacers will help Ravindra Jadeja," he said.
