India skipper Virat Kohli talked about his friendship with New Zealand's captain Kane Williamson ahead of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final. He said they connect on many things off the field which has strengthened their bonding.

Kohli loves to interact with Williamson and there was a picture of them viral on social media from India's tour to New Zealand in 2020. They were seen having a conversation while sitting near the boundary ropes.

"Well, I would say out of many people that I have become friends with beyond a certain point of professionalism, Kane would be one of them. We connected on different levels. We connected on a lot of things off cricket; in life how we look at things.

"It was good to see his personality, and his perception or his way to look at things is very similar to mine when it comes to life and we really bonded on that," Kohli said in a video shared by ICC.

Williamson also praised the India skipper and said Kohli is not only the best player, but he has also changed the game. He also mentioned the way Kohli pushes his boundaries and improves his game while inspiring his teammates being a leader.

Kohli and Williamson have played against each other from the age-group cricket. They had clashed in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, which Kohli-led India won.
