All the eyes are on India’s team composition as the date of World Test Championship (WTC) final draws closer.

The Virat-Kohli-led side are due to take on New Zealand in the marquee game at Southampton from June 18 to June 22.

According to a TOI report, Indian team management is eager to include young fast bowler Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. However, it is going to be a tough call as the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are so far fit and available for the selection. The pace troika has been instrumental behind India's overseas success in the last three years.

The report further stated that Ishant might be asked to rest if the management feels Siraj is hitting his marks well in training leading up to the game.

Notably, Siraj had played a key role in India’s 2-1 Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 triumph Down Under.

The right-arm pacer had claimed 13 wickets in the series at an average of 29.53, including a maiden five-wicket haul (5/73) to script the visitors’ three-wicket victory in the decider at the Gabba.

Meanwhile, Indian players have resumed training in Southampton with the sessions being divided into groups of three and four during the soft quarantine period. Although it has been just limited to warm-ups, full-fledged training will begin from Friday (June 11) and pacers will be evaluated thereafter.
