Batting in the second innings, Australia lost David Warner (19) cheaply but the duo of Joe Burns (53) and Marnus Labuschagne (50) added 87 runs for the second wicket to put the home team in a commanding position.

Even though Tim Southee (4/63) and Neil Wagner (2/4) ran through Australia’s middle-order in the final session, the hosts still ended the day on 167/6, leading New Zealand by 417 runs.

Australia 416/10 & 167/6 (Burns 53, Southee 4/63) lead New Zealand 166 (Taylor 80, Starc 5/52) by 417 runs at stumps on Day 3.
