David Warner continued his horror run in ongoing Ashes 2019 as the Australian opener added another unwanted record to his name in Test cricket after being dismissed for a 5-ball 8 on Day 2 of the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval on Friday (September 13).

Warner became the first batsman to register eight single-digit scores in one Test series after being a victim of a Jofra Archer delivery in the second over of Australian innings.

The left-hander had enjoyed a brilliant World Cup campaign, hitting three centuries to finish as the second leading run-scorer in the mega ICC event, but failed to take that form into the Ashes, as he contributed just 84 runs so far in the series at a meager 9.33.

Besides his a 5-ball 8 at The Oval, the 32-year-old managed a two and an eight at Edgbaston, a three and five at Lord's, while made 65 in the first innings of the third Test but then dismissed for three successive ducks with Stuart Broad claiming his scalp six times in eight innings.

With his yet another poor show, Warner joined the top-six Australian batsmen who have the lowest number of runs in a single Ashes series. He became the first Australian since Peter Toohey in the 1978-79 Ashes to score such low scores in the Test series.

Toohey registered single digit-scores in seven of the 10 innings he played in 1978-79 Test series, although, he managed to cross the 100-run barrier in that Ashes series.

Warner also overtook Michael Atherton for most sing-digit scores in one particular Ashes series, as the former England captain registered seven single-digit scores during the 1997 Ashes series.

Despite Warner's poor form with the bat, Australia has retained the Ashes with a 2-1 lead in the Test series but it seems that England can secure a draw with victory at The Oval.
