The England all-rounder Ben Stokes became the national hero for the second time in just over a month after the World Cup triumph at Lord’s. Stokes pulled off an Ashes miracle as England won a thrilling Test match just by 0ne-wicket and chased down an impossible-looking target of 359 runs at Headingley.
According to an Instagram post from an official ICC (International Cricket Council) which was a repost from another Instagram account, showed that for a certain amount of time, the British all-rounder was more popular than the famous American singer Taylor Swift.
The post on Instagram had caption as, “For a brief moment last weekend, Ben Stokes was a more popular Wiki search than Taylor Swift! There's no Bad Blood here Tay, but Stokesy's knock was the greatest Love Story of all time. Gorgeous innings that we couldn't believe in our Wildest Dreams! The caption displays a superb wordplay as it has the compilation of Taylor Swift's hit tracks -- Gorgeous, Wildest Dreams, Shake It Off, Out of the Woods -- together in a sentence to describe Ben Stokes' Headingley innings.
Stokes’ match-winning knock of 135 not-out not only got him fame but also took him to career-best second position in the ICC rankings. The previous best was No.3 which the left-hand batsman occupied in September 2017.
Thus, everyone will be excited to see Stokes taking the field against rival Aussies at Manchester for the fourth test starting from September 4.
