South Africa women won the fourth ODI of the five-ODI series against Indian women being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, and also pocketed the series with 3 wins and one match to go.
South Africa women captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and chose to bowl first. Smriti Mandhana fell for 10 runs while Jemimah Rodrigues made 32 runs.
Mithali Raj made 45 and in-process completed 7,000 runs in Women’s ODIs, becoming the first batswoman to achieve that feat. Harmanpreet Kaur slammed a 35-ball 54 with 7 fours and 1 six.
However, the knock of Indian innings came from Punam Raut, who made 104* in 123 balls with 10 fours to her name. India women made 266/4 in 50 overs. For South Africa, Tumi Sekhukhune picked 2/63.
In reply, Lizelle Lee (69) and captain Laura Wolvaardt (53) added 116 runs in 23 overs. Lara Goodall then made 59* and Mignon du Preez made 61 as South Africa coasted to victory easily with 7 wickets in hand and 10 balls to go.
South Africa made 269/3 and took an unassailable lead in the five-match series and effectively won the series as well. For India, Mansi Joshi, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Harmanpreet Kaur picked one wicket each.
