T20 World Cup 2024: ‘Learning art of discipline’- Shubman Gill posts photo with Rohit Sharma amidst rumors of tiff

Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan have been released as reserve players and will come back to India.

There was a reported tiff between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill | GettyYoung India batter Shubman Gill and pacer Avesh Khan are being sent back from the T20 World Cup 2024. India has qualified for the Super 8s stage and with most of the players still available, the team management decided to send these two back.

Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan had traveled with the Indian team as reserves along with Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed. India already has Yashasvi Jaiswal as an opener in the squad, while the pace contingent of Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj are firing on all cylinders.

With Hardik Pandya also in prime form with the ball and West Indies pitches not requiring that much pace, Avesh Khan is also being sent back.

Their release from the traveling group garnered much attention and curiosity from Indian cricket fans, with certain reports even speculating that Shubman Gill was released owing to disciplinary issues. However, as confirmed by sources, it has been told to be a false allegation.

Reports had claimed that Shubman Gill wasn’t traveling with the team and working on his side projects in the USA instead of spending time with Team India.

However, BCCI officials and India batting coach Vikram Rathour revealed that this was the plan from the beginning. India had planned to release two reserve players after the USA leg and only two will travel to West Indies.

Speculations were also rife as Shubman Gill had unfollowed Rohit Sharma on Instagram.

However, now, Shubman Gill posted a photo with India captain Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira on his Instagram story. What was eye-catching was the caption Gill used for the photo.

Sammy and I learning the art of discipline from @rohitsharma45”- Shubman wrote on the photo.
