Indian captain Rohit Sharma showed his emotions before and after the high voltage match against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 in MCG, as he lifted Virat Kohli on his shoulders while celebrating their thrilling 4-wicket win on Sunday.
Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya picked 3 wickets each as Pakistan was restricted to 159/8 with Iftikhar Ahmed making 51 and Shan Masood making 52*, with the Green Army making 53 runs in the last 5 overs.
In reply, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf rocked India early as well, as they were reduced to 31/4 in 6 overs.
But then a 113-run 5th wicket partnership between Hardik Pandya (40) and Virat Kohli kept India in the game. With 29 runs needed off the last two overs, Haris Rauf had bowled a brilliant over until Virat Kohli hammered him for two sixes in the last two balls.
Needed 16 runs off the last over, Mohammad Nawaz crumbled under the pressure as he gave away a six off a waist-high full toss which was called a no ball, bowled a wide, and then India took three runs off the free-hit to give 11 runs in just 1 ball.
Though India lost Dinesh Karthik off the 5th ball of the 20th over, R Ashwin came in and finished the job with Virat Kohli remaining unbeaten on 82* with 6 fours and 4 sixes as India won by 4 wickets.
India captain Rohit Sharma was watching from the dugout in tension and when India won, he ran onto the field and picked Virat Kohli on his shoulders as the two pillars of Indian batting for the last decade and a half celebrated a huge win against Pakistan.
