T20 World Cup 2022: Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen’s departure to Australia delayed due to visa issues- Report

Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen | BCCIIndia pacers Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen, who were named as the net bowlers for the Men in Blue in Australia for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, have been stuck in India itself reportedly due to some visa issues.

Initially, Umran, Kuldeep, and Mohammed Siraj were scheduled to fly with the India squad to their training base in Perth on October 6. But then Siraj was picked for the ODI series against South Africa, while the other two missed the flight due to visa issues.

Umran Malik impressed one and all with his ability to constantly click above the 150 kph mark in IPL 2022 and Kuldeep Sen was one of the standout performers for the Rajasthan Royals in this year’s IPL as well.

Now it has been reported that Umran Malik has joined the J&K squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) in Mohali. The tearaway pacer has reportedly gotten an exemption from BCCI to join the J&K squad in Mohali, who are preparing for their Elite Group C match against Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep’s departure has also been delayed, however, there was nothing in the report that suggested he will play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Madhya Pradesh, like Umran.  

Now it is expected that Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen will leave for Australia with the other stand-by players in Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammad Shami, and Deepak Chahar on October 12, after the completion of the South Africa ODI series.
