SL v IND 2024: “First look into your own performances,” Tanvir Ahmed slams Team India after ODI series loss to Sri Lanka

India failed to chase down sub-250 targets in all three ODIs against Sri Lanka.

India were outplayed by Sri Lanka in the ODI series | GettyFormer Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed has launched a scathing attack on Team India for their defeat in the recently held ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The Men in Blue lost the three-match series 2-0 after the first ODI in Colombo ended in a tie. It was their first bilateral series loss to Sri Lanka in the 50-over format since 1997.

In all three ODIs, the visitors failed to chase down sub-250 targets, including a dismal 138 all-out in the last fixture that saw them suffering a 110-run thrashing to concede the series.

Reflecting on India’s performance, Tanvir said Pakistan would easily beat their arch-rivals without the legendary trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

"First look into your own performances and then have suggestions on Pakistan. If Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah does not play against Pakistan, Pakistan will beat India hands down," Tanvir said, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

"You see what happens to the Indian batting lineup from here on in the future. The bowling lineup might work it out but the batting lineup will find it difficult. All the new batters in this Indian team at the moment, barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they cannot carry forward this batting lineup in the future,” he added.

Moreover, Tanvir Ahmed went on to claim that team Indian batters can only score runs on flat pitches at home.

"They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches but on pitches where the ball turns seams and swings this batting lineup of India does not have the life to bat in those conditions. They could have scored runs in the first match, that ended in a tie, and could have scored runs in the second and third ODI as well," he remarked.

India’s next assignment is the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, slated to get underway on September 19 at Chepauk.
