Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi recently took everyone by surprise with his selection of a wicketkeeper-batter in his best ODI XI.
While most players usually pick India’s MS Dhoni or Australia’s Adam Gilchrist for this role, Shahidi opted for a different player.
In a recent episode of Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube podcast, Shahidi named Pakistan's Rashid Latif as the wicketkeeper in his all-time ODI World XI. His choice left the anchor perplexed, prompting him to ask, "over MS Dhoni?"
Nonetheless, Hashmatullah Shahidi dream team features some of the most iconic players in cricket history.
Shahidi picked Saeed Anwar and Rohit Sharma as his two openers, followed by two batting maestros -Virat Kohli and Kumar Sangakkara.
He bolstered the middle-order by including the duo of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mahela Jayawardene. Andrew Flintoff is the designated fast bowling all-rounder in his all-time ODI World XI.
The bowling attack includes spin wizard Rashid Khan and two of finest pacers to emerge from the subcontinent - Waqar Younis and Jasprit Bumrah.
