The India vs. England Test series proved to be a significant learning experience for Team India captain Rohit Sharma. Despite the absence of key players due to injuries and other factors, Rohit successfully led the young Indian team to a 4-1 Test series win against a formidable England side.
Well, the Indian skipper was really supported by the senior off-spinner, R. Ashwin, throughout the five-match Test series with his outstanding performance with the ball.
Notably, Ashwin emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the Test series, claiming 26 wickets in 10 innings against England, despite facing personal challenges as his mother dealt with a health crisis in the middle of the series.
Given that, Ashwin showed resilience and remained a pillar of strength for the Indian cricket team, and even Rohit also acknowledged the spinner’s contributions during a press conference and his achievement of playing 100 Test matches and completing 500 wickets during the series.
Now, a video is going viral on social media, where the Indian skipper can be seen slamming Ashwin’s critics while praising the off-spinner for the way he has been handling the pressure and delivering for Team India.
Rohit Sharma said in an Instagram video: “His career speaks for itself. Look at the number of Man of the Match, Man of the Series he has got. Whenever he plays in India, or outside the amount pressure he has to take. In one innings if he does not take wickets, people start talking, 'this is happening. That is happening.' Arey Bhai Insaan hai, he is also trying his best. Imagine for him to come out on top every time, series after series, says a lot what kind of bowler he is.”
