India qualified for the U19 WC final for fifth time in a row.

South African players in tears after losing U19 WC semi-final to India | XThe hosts of the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2024, South Africa’s young team were left in tears after they lost the first semi-final to defending champions India on February 6 in Benoni.

After setting a target of 245, South Africa started brilliantly, courtesy of Maphaka's breakthrough on the first ball of the innings. Adarsh Singh found himself helpless against a sharp bouncer, awkwardly prodding it to the keeper.

Soon India was reduced to 32/4, but this is when Sachin Dhas and captain Uday Saharan came together. They added a brilliant 171-run partnership for 5th wicket. Dhas made 96 in 95 balls, while Saharan made 81 runs with 6 fours as India crossed the finish line with 2 wickets in hand. With this win, India qualified for the final fifth consecutive time and overall 9th time.

India will take on the winner of the second semi-final between Australia and Pakistan in the final of the U19 World Cup 2024 on February 11, Sunday in Benoni.

The South African cricket team was clearly upset following their loss to India. Tristan Luus and Nqobani Mokoena were in pain as they lay on the ground and Kwena Maphaka, the tournament's top wicket-taker, was trying to console them.

There was a show of sportsmanship when Saharan, the captain of India, gave a supportive hug to Juan James, the captain of South Africa.
