Mayank Agarwal to be discharged soon from hospital and will return to Bengaluru- Report

Mayank Agarwal | PTIKarnataka captain Mayank Agarwal was admitted to a private hospital in Agartala on Tuesday after complaining of stomach pain and a burning sensation in his throat and mouth after consuming liquid from a bottle that he believed contained drinking water on the flight.

The Karnataka team was traveling from Tripura to Delhi on Tuesday (January 30) and Agarwal drank a beverage onboard the flight following which he complained of uneasiness and a burning sensation in his throat and started vomiting.

He was deboarded and rushed to a hospital, while the rest of the Karnataka squad continued their onward travel.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is in touch with officials from the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) and the doctors attending to Agarwal. Meanwhile, Agarwal is out of danger and will ideally be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, as per KSCA president Raghuram Bhat.

The ILS Hospital also issued an official statement on the health of the cricketer.

Agarwal will fly back to Bengaluru and consult local doctors on further treatment. He is all but ruled out of the upcoming Ranji fixture. Karnataka will face Railways starting February 2 in Surat in their next fixture and Nikin Jose, the vice-captain of the team, is likely to take over the leadership in Agarwal's absence.
