Pakistan pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has slammed former captain Rashid Latif for leaving him out of a list of stats he had shared about Pakistani pacers' List-A record. He also came down hard on the PCB selectors for leaving him out of the just announced Asia Cup 2023 squad.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had recently appointed Inzamam Ul Haq as the chief selector and he unveiled the Men in Green 18-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and the three ODIs against Afghanistan.
Babar Azam was named the captain of the side, with Shadab Khan as his deputy and as a surprise, pace all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was recalled to the side after two years, while Shan Masood, who was vice-captain some time ago, was dropped.
One major name missing in the bowling department was that of Shahnawaz Dahani, who had been a regular member of the Pakistan side till last year, but hasn't played a game for the national team in 2023.
Shakib Al Hasan named Bangladesh captain for Asia Cup and World Cup 2023
He missed the PSL 2023 due to an injury and is currently playing in the Lanka Premier League. However, it seems the pacer has taken the snub to his heart as he responded harshly to former captain Rashid Latif on social media, who had posted List A stats of Pakistan fast bowlers.
The list, though, didn't have Dahani's name and the Pakistan bowler -- in a now deleted post -- highlighted the same. Dahani shared his stats in List-A and posted- “Seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistan pacer?”
To this, Rashid Latif immediately apologized and said he’ll make a new list.
In another post which has also been deleted, Dahani attacked reporters and cricket experts for not talking about his snub. “Not even single journalist or cricket analyst even dared to ask questions or show these stats to selectors #Ripsportsjournalism,” he wrote.
Now Samaa TV reporter Qadir Khawaja has revealed that the PCB officials are furious with Dahani for his conduct and is likely to take action against the pacer. In a post, he further mentioned that PCB does not allow right to dissent against journalist and selection committee.
