Shubman Gill attains career-best spot in ICC ODI batting rankings; Kohli, Rohit feature in top 10

Mohammed Siraj continues to be the only Indian bowler in the top 10.

Shubman Gill | GettyIndia opener Shubman Gill has moved up a spot to career-best fourth position among batters in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters released on Wednesday (April 5).

Besides Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the two other Indians to feature in top 10. While Kohli also gained a slot to seventh, Rohit remained static at eighth in the chart headed by Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Speedster Mohammed Siraj continues to be the only Indian bowler in the top 10 as he retained his number three spot, behind Australia’s Josh Hazlewood and New Zealand's Trent Boult.

Aiden Markram leapfrogged 13 places to reach 41st position in the batting chart as South Africa defeated Netherlands 2-0 in their three-match series in Johannesburg.

With this result, the Proteas edged closer to automatic qualification for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India later this year.

Kiwi left-hander Henry Nicholls jumped two spots to 69 in the batting rankings and his teammate Will Young advanced 60 spots to a personal best 143rd following their 2-0 series victory over Sri Lanka.

Pacer Matt Henry was the other notable gainer, moving up five slots to claim the fifth spot in the bowling rankings while South Africa's Sisanda Magala made a leap of 35 places to attain career-best 165th position after picking eight scalps in two matches, including a maiden five-wicket haul against the Netherlands.

In T20I Player Rankings, Suryakumar Yadav held on to his No. 1 position among batters while Hardik Pandya remained static on second in the all-rounders' list.

Bangladesh's Litton Das gained one spot to reach 21st position, his highest career ranking so far, sharing the spot with New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, who climbed five places from 26. This is also Mitchell's career-best ranking while his previous best was 25th.

In the bowling rankings, Maheesh Theekshana has progressed three spots to 10th while Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed has gone up three places to 36th.
