Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana laud BCCI’s decision of equal match fees for women cricketers

Women's cricketers to get INR 15 Lakhs per Test, INR 6 lakhs per ODI, and INR 3 lakhs per T20I.

Shah in a series of tweets said that the Indian cricket board is implementing a pay equity policy for its contracted women players.

"I’m pleased to announce BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted BCCI Women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian Cricket," Shah tweeted.

This meant Women's cricketers will also get INR 15 Lakhs per Test match, INR 6 lakhs per ODI match, and INR 3 lakhs per T20I match they play, which is the same as the men's cricketers.

"The BCCI Women cricketers will be paid the same match fee as their male counterparts. Test (INR 15 lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs). Pay equity was my commitment to our women cricketers and I thank the Apex Council for their support. Jai Hind," he added.

Reacting to this news, multiple Indian women cricketers praised the BCCI for their decision and called it huge news for women players in the country.
