Australia and England both have lost one and won one game so far.

Australia and England both have lost one and won one game so far | GettyAustralia captain Aaron Finch has admitted that their upcoming clash against England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 28, is extremely crucial for both teams.

Australia and England have both played two matches and lost one each. Australia lost to New Zealand by a massive 89 runs and then defeated Sri Lanka. England, on the other hand, defeated Afghanistan, but then lost to Ireland by DLS method when rains prevented any further play.

Now both the teams need to win and win big in order to get their net run rate better as well.

The MCG has already witnessed an amazing match between India and Pakistan which went right down to the wire with India emerging victorious. And now they will see two more rivals taking on one another in England and Australia.

It doesn’t get bigger than MCG with a full house with a lot on the line. It will be a great occasion and hopefully, the weather clears up and we can have a great game,” Finch told reporters on Wednesday.

I think the group is wide open, absolutely. Any team can win on their day, that’s the thing about T20, you can’t take anything for granted in the game,” he added.

Only the top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Afghanistan, they are a really skilful, talented side. Ireland have got the skills there. Sri Lanka on their day can beat anyone as well. It’s a tough group to get through no doubt,” said Finch.

Aaron Finch also hinted at leg-spinner Adam Zampa being included in the playing XI, after he missed the match against Sri Lanka due to Covid infection.

He also opened up on his own batting form and said: “I don’t feel any more pressure than I ever have. The only pressure is the pressure of expectations you put on yourself. The other day I was slightly off but that can happen. Sri Lanka bowled very well too.”
