Virat Kohli put on another brilliant batting display in India’s second Super 12 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 against Netherlands at Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday (October 27).
Kohli arrived in the middle after opener KL Rahul’s dismissal in the third over. As usual, he took a bit of time to settle in and anchored India’s innings to perfection.
Virat played the role of second fiddle as skipper Rohit Sharma took on the Netherlands bowlers in the first 10 overs. The duo was involved in a partnership of 73 runs for the second wicket.
After Rohit’s dismissal on 39-ball 53 in the 12th over, Kohli took the matter into his hands and produced a flurry of boundaries. In the 17th over, he smashed Netherlands pacer Fred Klaassen for 16 runs, which included a breathtaking six.
It was a trademark Virat Kohli shot as he lifted the ball over deep extra cover to leave everyone in awe. Kohli too enjoyed the stroke as it came off the meat of the bat.

Virat Kohli eventually remained unbeaten on 62 off 44 balls (3 fours and 2 sixes), propelling the Men in Blue to 179/2 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav also returned with a half-century in India’s innings, scoring 51 not out off 25 balls.
