Former Pakistan skipper Zaheer Abbas shifted to ICU in London

After testing positive for the COVID-19, Abbas was moved into the ICU of a private hospital.

A few days after receiving a COVID-19 positive test result, former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas was admitted into the intensive care unit at Saint Mary's Hospital in Paddington, City of Westminster, London. 

Abbas was on oxygen support for three days before being sent to the hospital, as per a report in the Pakistani television channel Geo News.

According to reports, the former cricketer picked up COVID-19 while on the route from Dubai to England. After arriving in London, he complained of kidney pain and was diagnosed with pneumonia.

“He is currently on dialysis and the doctors have advised him to refrain from meeting people," the sources said, as quoted by Geo News.

Meeting the former Pakistan captain is not permitted because he is on dialysis and feeling weak, according to the source.

Mohammad Hafeez, the former cricketer for Pakistan, took to Twitter to wish the legendary cricketer a speedy recovery.

“Wishing speedy recovery & complete health to Zaheer Abbas sb. Get well soon. Aameen," he wrote.

One of the best batters of his time, Zaheer Abbas made his international debut in 1969 against New Zealand. He scored 2572 runs in 62 ODIs, while also amassing 5062 runs in 72 Tests.

His first-class stats are outstanding, having scored 34,843 runs in 459 matches which include a staggering 108 centuries and 158 fifties.

He was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2020 along with Jacques Kallis and Lisa Sthalekar.
