Australia captain Pat Cummins showed great compassion and respect for Usman Khawaja as he called him back to join the team celebrations as the follower of Islam bailed out seeing that the champagne shower was about to begin.
Khawaja, who made a brilliant comeback in the Australia Test team after 2019, scored twin centuries in the drawn SCG Test and while opening the innings in the fifth Test in Hobart, to accommodate Travis Head, didn’t do much in either inning.
After the win, Australian players were celebrating on the podium with the winners’ cup but Usman Khawaja was not involved in that celebration. Not seeing Khawaja with the team, Cummins realized that alcohol was what kept him away and asked the players to hold off on the booze shower and called Khawaja back for the team photo.

Cummins was the highest wicket-taker in the series with 21 scalps despite missing one match due to COVID protocols. Australia thumped England by 146 runs in the Hobart D/N Test match to pocket the series 4-0.
