Australia completed a demolition job of England in the fifth and final Test of the Ashes 2021-22 series by winning the Hobart D/N Test by 146 runs and pocketing the series 4-0. England saved some face by hanging onto a draw in the 4th Test in Sydney by a narrow margin.
Joe Root had asked his team to show pride and grit in this match to ensure England goes back home with something. He won the toss and chose to field first and had Australia struggling for 83/4.
But then Marnus Labuschagne (44), Travis Head (101) and Cameron Green (74) banded together to get the home side to a respectable total of 303. Stuart Broad and Mark Wood took three wickets and Olli Robinson and Chris Woakes got 2 wickets apiece.
Now it was time for England to show off their batting prowess but were folded for 188 runs with Dawid Malan (25), Joe Root (34), and Chris Woakes (36) saving some face for the visitors. Pat Cummins picked 4/45 and Mitchell Starc took 3/53 for Australia.
In reply, England managed to keep Australia to just 155 in the second innings with Alex Carey making 49. Mark Wood shined with the ball, taking 6/37 and 9 wickets in the match.

Set a target of 271 runs to win, England got off to a good start of 68 runs with Rory Burns making 26 and Zak Crawley making 36 runs. However, after that, England collapsed like a pack of card castles, and was bowled out for just 124 runs and lost the match by 146 runs in Hobart.
Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, and Cameron Green picked three wickets apiece as Australia pocketed Ashes 2021-22 by a margin of 4-0. Australia also maintained its perfect record in day-night Test matches.
