Rashid Khan | GettyFormer England skipper Kevin Pietersen in his recent interaction with the Sky Sports, revealed that the star Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is worried about the situation back home and he is not able to get his family out of the country.

The 22-year-old who is currently in the UK, playing for Trent Rockets in the inaugural edition of ‘The Hundred’, has his family back in Afghanistan where the flight operations from around the world are affected due to the ongoing turmoil in country.

There's a lot of things that are happening at home. We had a long chat here on the boundary talking about it and he's worried: he can't get his family out of Afghanistan and there's a lot of things happening for him,Pietersen said on Sky Sports.

For him to turn up and put on a performance like this under the pressure that he is currently under... for him to be able to forget that stuff and navigate his story and continue the momentum that he has, I think that's probably one of the most heart-warming stories of this Hundred so far,” he added.

In Afghanistan, the Taliban terrorists are assuming control of the Afghan capital of Kabul and have taken control of the presidential palace after the country's president Ashraf Ghani left for Tajikistan.

As far as Rashid Khan is concerned, after playing in ECB’s 100-ball tournament, he will be travelling to UAE for the second-leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) which was suspended earlier this year after positive COVID-19 cases inside bio-bubbles of different franchises.

The leggie had good outings in the first-leg of the tournament where he picked 10 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad who are languishing at the bottom of the table with only 1 victory in 7 matches played.
