India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has heaped praise on the limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, saying the star opener is the best white-ball batsman in the world on his day.
With over 9000 ODI and 2700 T20I runs, the 33-year-old is a treat to watch for everyone and is also the mainstay of India’s batting line-up, thanks to the flamboyant batsman’s ability to consistently scoring runs and demolish any attack once he sets on the crease, then no one can stop him from hitting.

The right-hander, who is regarded as one of the finest white-ball cricketers around the world, has been also enjoying a great run in the Test cricket, scoring more than 500 runs in just 6 innings, especially after being promoted to the top of the order especially after his incredible outing in the World Cup 2019.
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Rathour has showered rich praise on Rohit for his incredible ability to score runs in the white-ball format when he is in full flow. The batting coach also lamented the right-hander’s absence in New Zealand ODI and Test series, which he missed due to a calf injury.
Rathour said on Rohit: “On his day, I think he is the best batsman in the world, especially in white-ball cricket. He has got great game-plans in white-ball cricket and that is being converted to Test cricket as well. Unfortunately, in New Zealand, he got injured and couldn’t play the Test series but the kind of batting he did against South Africa in the last Test series we played in India, I think he was a revelation.”
The coach further revealed that Rohit’s consistency is his strokeplay and believes that his natural ability to play risk-free shots with additional skills to find the gaps is his greatest strength.
He signed off by saying, “His strength is that he can take bowlers apart without taking any risk. He keeps on playing the cricketing shots, keeps backing his ability to hit straight. Without playing too many risky shots, he can still play at a phenomenal strike rate. So, that I think is his strength and on his day he can be the best player in the world.”
