Prithvi Shaw | AFPEven before leading India to Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2018, Prithvi Shaw was an eminent name in Mumbai’s cricketing circle for his prolific run-scoring.

Former cricketers and seasoned coaches were singing praises of his immense talent. In fact, such was Shaw’s skill that even the cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar paid a visit to one of his net sessions when he was just 8-year-old.

"When I was 8 years old was when he (Tendulkar) came to MIG. That's all I remember. He was watching from somewhere but I didn't know till he said something,” Shaw said while speaking to Cricbuzz.

He left such a big impression on Tendulkar that the batting legend ended up gifting him a bat.

"When he gave me the bat, I was feeling emotional. He wished me good luck and said 'I hope you score tons of runs with this bat'."

Shaw also recalled the advice he received from Sachin after failure in his maiden innings on Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu.

"Chandu Sir had a message from Sachin Sir at that time. It read 'Tell him to play how he always plays. Nothing different and it'll win the game for us'," the 20-year-old revealed.

Notably, the advice did wonders for Shaw as he slammed a blistering century in the next dig to script his team’s 6-wicket victory.

For all his achievements at the junior level, Prithvi Shaw is considered as the next batting superstar of Indian cricket and he has justified the tag so far.

The right-hander has played four Tests for India so far, scoring 335 runs at an average of 55.83 with one century and two fifties. He also made his ODI debut against New Zealand earlier this year.
