Ajit Agarkar picks India’s two different T20I and Test squads for games on same day

There is a speculation that the teams will field two squads simultaneously in the post COVID-19 world.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Agarkar picked Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to open the innings in the shortest format while there was no place for Shikhar Dhawan in the T20I squad.

Shreyas Iyer was chosen to bat at No. 3 followed by Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Agarkar named five frontline bowlers in his T20I team, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Shardul Thakur, who played all the white-ball games in New Zealand earlier this year, was named as the 12th man.

Coming to the Test side, Agarkar gave opening duties to Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal. Cheteshwar Pujara was assigned to bat at the crucial No. 3 position followed by Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari.

Wriddhiman Saha, Rishabh Pant often compete for the wicketkeeper slot in the longest format and Agarkar backed the latter to don the gloves.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the sole spinner in his squad while the pace attack was comprised of Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami.

Shubman Gill, who is touted as the future of Indian cricket, was the 12th man in Agarkar's Test squad.
