India's limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who is considered as one of the finest openers in world cricket, has recently revealed that it was Yuvraj Singh who wanted him to break Virender Sehwag's then-record for the highest ODI score.
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was the first male batsman to score a double hundred in ODIs in 2010, but Sehwag bettered the master blaster’s tally by hitting 219 against West Indies in 2011 – which was eventually shattered by Rohit in 2014.

The star opening batsman reached the magical figure for the first time in 2013 against Australia at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but the Hitman was dismissed on 209 and his teammates likes of Yuvraj and Shikhar Dhawan were disappointed as they wanted him to surpass Sehwag’s record.
Well, the Hit-man finally managed to break Sehwag’s then-record for the highest ODI score by hitting the mind-boggling knock of 264 against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens.
He made the revelation during an Instagram live session with Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Rohit told Ashwin during the Sports Tak conversation: “When I went back after scoring the double-century, someone was telling me that if you would have batted another over or so you would have broken Virender Sehwag's record also.”
He further added, “The expectation in the dressing room is really high. There were three or four guys who wanted me (Rohit) to score 10 or 15 more runs, Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) was one of them and maybe Shikhar Dhawan too.”
Noteworthy, he has now played 224 ODIs, 108 T20Is, and 32 Tests for India so far and has scored 14,029 runs across all formats.
