Brett Lee shares his first memory of India’s ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma

Recently, former Australian speedster Brett Lee acknowledged Rohit’s brilliance and confessed that he did not enjoy bowling to the Indian batsman during his playing career.

“He was flamboyant and aggressive but my first memory of Rohit Sharma was the sound of his bat,” Brett Lee said while speaking on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.

“That’s the first thing I could think of; the knock of the bat from people hitting the ball right off the center — it’s a different sound,” he added.

Rohit, who made his international debut in 2007, has quite a few world records to his name. He is the proud owner of the highest individual ODI score — 264 (against Sri Lanka in 2014). Moreover, he is the only batsman in the history of cricket to have scored three ODI double tons and four Twenty20 international centuries.

During his 13-year long cricket career thus far, Sharma has amassed 9115 runs in 224 ODIs at an average and strike-rate of 49.27 and 88.92 respectively. He has 29 ODI tons and 6 Test tons to his name. Rohit was also instrumental in India’s 2007 ICC World T20 and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy triumphs.

“He is the kind of guy who is so mentally switched on, that once he gets through the tough period, he cashes in,” Lee said.

“When you got guys like Sharma at the top of the order, who can dominate from early on, they are the guys I don’t want to bowl to. He is definitely in that class,” he continued.
