The 'Mankading' has become a hot topic of discussion among the cricket fraternity ever since Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Rajasthan Royals’ batsman Jos Buttler through this controversial method during the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2019.

During an IPL 2019 match between KXIP and RR, the veteran Indian off-spinner stopped in his bowling stride and removed the bails with England wicketkeeper-batsman Buttler out of his crease at the non-striker's end – which had triggered mixed reactions from the experts.

While many criticized Ashwin for the same, while others said the dismissal was under the Laws of the game. Well, the 'Mankading' term came into the effect after former India all-rounder Vinoo Mankad, dismissed Australia’s Bill Brown in Sydney during India's tour in 1947-48 in that similar manner. It was such a first instance of the dismissal of international cricket.

Meanwhile, Australian cricket coach Jason Gillespie has now come out with his views on the controversial dismissal and even suggested a hilarious alternate name for this kind of dismissal.

Recently, a Twitter user suggested that the dismissal should be named after Bill Brown, the batsman that Mankad ran out in a controversial manner for the first time in international cricket.

A Twitter user asked, “Why isn't the dismissal called BillBrowned? Buttler got Bill Browned has a nice ring to it compared to Ashwin Mankaded,” To which Gillespie replied, “Instead of 'Mankad' it should really be called 'Run Out due to dopeyness'.”

Noteworthy, the latest incident of 'Mankading' came in this year’s Under-19 World Cup 2020 when Afghanistan's left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad dismissed Pakistan opener Mohammad Huraira.
