Wasim Jaffer has backed MS Dhoni to be the No. 1 choice wicket-keeper for Team India if he is fit and in form.

MS Dhoni might be praying for the IPL to go as planned from April 15 to find form as he has not played any competitive cricket since India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 in England.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has opined that Dhoni should be back in the Indian team if he is fit and in form.

“Dhoni's comeback into the Indian fold looks very difficult”, reckons Sehwag

The 42-year-old posted his thoughts on Twitter and also explained how it will be beneficial to both Team India and players like KL Rahul and/or Rishabh Pant.

Dhoni behind the stumps will mean that Rahul will not have to keep and even Pant can get an opportunity if the team wants a left-handed batsman in the right-handed dominant squad.

Jaffer wrote, “If Dhoni is fit and in form I think we can't look beyond him as he'll be an asset behind the stumps and also lower down the order. It'll take the pressure of keeping off Rahul and India can play Pant as a batsman too if they want a lefty. #Dhoni #MSDhoni #IPL2020
