At the start of the year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the central contract list for the 2020-21 season. While most of the names featuring in the list were on expected lines, there was one notable omission in the chart.
MS Dhoni, who hasn’t played international cricket ever since India’s ouster from World Cup 2019, was not named in any of the categories. Since then, there has been a debate over the veteran wicketkeeper’s cricket future.

Amid the speculations, former India opener Virender Sehwag reckons Dhoni's comeback into the Indian fold looks very difficult.
“The selectors have already moved forward and found replacements for Dhoni,” Sehwag quoted as saying by TOI.
"Where will he fit in? With the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul already in form, especially the latter performing exceptionally well of late, I think there is no reason why we should not stick with them," he added.
While there is no clarity on Dhoni’s future with the Indian team, one thing is certain that he will return to action in the IPL 2020, where he will lead three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, the threat of Coronavirus pandemic is looming large over the 13th edition of IPL, which has now been postponed from March 29 to April 15.
This rescheduling has forced Dhoni to take an extended break from the game.
