Rohit Sharma has had a very brilliant Indian Premier League career given that he is a five-time IPL trophy winner with four of those titles coming as a captain of the Mumbai Indians, a franchise that is the home for the Mumbaikar for a long time.
Sharma was bought by Deccan Chargers in the initial IPL auction in 2008 and he won the tournament with them in 2009 when IPL was held in South Africa. However, when the franchise was dissolved before the 2012 edition, Rohit Sharma was put back in the auction and Mumbai Indians bought him for $2 million.

After playing a decent role in the franchise for two years, he was given the captaincy in 2013 midway in the tournament and he took the team to the title. Since then, he has won the IPL for Mumbai Indians in 2015, 2017 and 2019. He is in the top five of the highest run-getters in the tournament and is the most successful captain in T20 league history.
Rohit recently shared a post on Instagram reminiscing the date (January 9), when he was bought by Mumbai Indians in the auction and captioned it, “#ThisDayThatYear I came to Mumbai Indians and from then till date what a wonderful ride it has been ???? @mumbaiindians”
