Australia is one of the hardest places to succeed for a batsman especially due to the bounce and movement on the hard pitches and the usage of Kookaburra ball. The biggest problem faced is by the Asian batsmen, who are not used to such conditions.

Ricky Ponting was one of the best batsmen of his time, who made runs everywhere in the world, but Australia is his home country, where he has seen some of the best innings played in the longest format of cricket. Since retiring from the game in 2013, Ponting has donned the hats of coach and commentator as well.

“I don't place Virat Kohli in same class as Sachin Tendulkar,” says Abdul Razzaq

He recently picked his five favorite Test innings in Australia including one by an Indian batsman as well. That batsman is none other than master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. That innings came in the 2003-04 series down under in the Sydney Test match, where the right-handed genius scored a brilliant 241* runs and led India to a total of over 700 runs.

It was a great knock simply because Sachin cut out any shots outside off stump, especially cover drives, on which he had been getting out previously on the tour. Ponting considers it praiseworthy now, hailing the Indian legend for his composure and discipline. Tendulkar had stitched a 353-run partnership with VVS Laxman, who made 178 runs himself. India declared at a mammoth 705-7.

Meanwhile, this was the fifth overall favorite innings of Ricky Ponting with other four being:

4. Kevin Pietersen - 227 vs Australia - Adelaide Oval 2010/11
3. Michael Clarke - 230 vs South Africa - Adelaide Oval 2012/13
2. Brian Lara - 226 vs Australia - Adelaide Oval 2005/06
1. Adam Gilchrist - 149* vs Pakistan - Bellerive Oval 1999/2000
