Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been reprimanded and fined 20 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.
The disciplinary action stems from an incident during the dramatic ODI tri-series match against England on Sunday (October 25) in Lahore, where Pakistan clinched a thrilling one-wicket victory.
During the 46th over of Pakistan's chase, Rauf (positioned at the non-striker’s end) appealed for a wide and became involved in a heated argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks.
Rauf raised his bat and brushed past umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid while continuing to confront Jacks, ignoring the match official’s warning.
He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.20, which covers conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. One demerit point was also added to his disciplinary record. As this was his third offence within a 24-month period, his total has increased to five demerit points.
Meanwhile, England have been fined 15 per cent of their match fee after being found to be three overs short of their target after time allowances were taken into account.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl within the allotted time.
Since Haris Rauf and England captain Harry Brook admitted their respective offences and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, no formal hearings were required.
The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
