The 41st match of the IPL 2025 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosting Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on April 23, 2025. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Out of form SRH batting saw the top four batters falling in single-digit scores. Travis Head (0), Abhishek Sharma (8), Ishan Kishan (1), and Nitish Reddy (2) were dismissed, with Trent Boult taking the wickets of Head and Sharma, while Deepak Chahar removed Kishan and Reddy.
Aniket Verma followed soon for 12 runs and 35/5, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar got together and added 99 runs for the 6th wicket. Klaasen made 71 in 44 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes.
Manohar struggled, but managed 43 in 37 with 2 fours and 3 sixes, as SRH posted 143/8 in 20 overs. Trent Boult was the pick of the MI bowlers with 4/26.
In response, Ryan Rickelton got out for 11 runs, but Rohit Sharma, who regained form in the previous match, kept going at the SRH bowlers. He and Will Jacks (22) added 63 runs for the second wicket.
Rohit Sharma hit his second straight fifty and was dismissed for 70 with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Suryakumar Yadav (40*) finished the game in MI’s favor as they made 146/3 in 15.4 overs. MI defeated SRH by 7 wickets.
With this win, MI has now moved to third spot in the IPL 2025 points table with 10 points from 9 games. SRH remains at the 8th spot with 4 points from 8 games.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for Rohit Sharma’s 70 and also lauded MI’s ongoing good run of wins in IPL 18.
