Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Ishan Kishan grabbed the headlines for his bizarre dismissal on Wednesday (April 23).
Playing against his former franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the southpaw walked off without even waiting for the umpire's call, only to be gutted later as replays showed no edge on his dismissal.
It was a stranger dismissal as MI players didn’t appeal with any conviction after Ishan attempted to play a delivery down the leg side. However, the left-hander began walking even as umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal seemed uncertain.
Upon seeing the batter walk, the umpire raised his finger. As Ishan made his way back to the pavilion, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya gave him a pat on the back, appreciating his sportsmanship and fair play.
However, replays later revealed that the ball had not made contact with Ishan's bat or gloves. No wonder, the SRH camp looked visibly dejected after the replay was shown on the big screen.
Ishan Kishan too was seen shaking his head in disbelief as he watched the replay while being seated in the dressing room.

Coming to the match, SRH lost half their side for just 35 runs after being asked to bat first. The pace duo of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar claimed two wickets each inside the powerplay while Hardik Pandya got the scalp of Aniket Verma in the ninth over.
At the time of writing this article, the hosts were 90/5 in 15 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 55-run stand between Heinrich Klaasen (51*) and Abhinav Manohar (12*).
