Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was relieved after his team won a thrilling IPL 2025 match against the Mumbai Indians on Friday.
LSG recorded a respectable total of 203/8 on the board, thanks to fifties from Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. Then MI was held to 191/5, with Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir as the outstanding batters. LSG won the game by 12 runs.
Goenka was seen having an angry conversation with LSG captain Rishabh Pant following the game against PBKS, seemingly chastising the latter for the team's poor performance. However, following LSG's tight victory over five-time winners MI, Goenka appeared in a previously unseen avatar.
Goenka was all smiles after the match, chatting with Pant and MI star Rohit Sharma. In a viral video, Goenka was also seen patting Rishabh Pant on the back to convey his happiness with LSG's performance versus MI.

On Saturday, the BCCI fined LSG captain Pant for maintaining a sluggish over-rate. Apart from Pant, leg spinner Digvesh Rathi was fined 50% of his match money for violating the IPL Code of Conduct in the same match.
The current punishments against LSG follow their tight 12-run victory over the Mumbai Indians on Friday. On Saturday, the IPL announced that the Super Giants captain had been fined Rs 12 lakh for violating the Code of Conduct.
Pant became the third skipper after Rajasthan Royals' Riyan Parag and Mumbai Indians' skipper Hardik Pandya to be fined for maintaining a slow over rate this season.
