Narine hit his maiden T20 ton in his 504th match | BCCI-IPLSunil Narine was the man for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with the bat as they clashed with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 31st match of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 16, Tuesday.

RR captain Sanju Samson, won the toss and chose to bowl first in Kolkata. KKR opened with Sunil Narine and Phil Salt. But Salt was caught and bowled by Avesh Khan for 10 runs.

Then Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30) and Sunil Narine added a vital 85 runs for the second wicket, with Narine hitting the RR bowlers all around the Eden Gardens ground. Aside from him, Rinku Singh scored 20* in 8 balls as KKR reached 223/6 in 20 overs.

Sunil Narine, on the other hand, dominated the KKR innings. Narine, who is playing his 504th T20 match, has finally got his first T20 hundred. He scored 109 runs, including 13 fours and six sixes.

KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was present to see Sunil Narine score his maiden IPL century and couldn’t stop himself from celebrating in the VIP enclosure and lauded him as well.

Not only SRK, but Gautam Gambhir, the KKR mentor who backed Narine to open the innings for KKR in this IPL, was also ecstatic at Narine’s century and hugged him during the break after he had completed his ton.
