Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clashed against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 43rd match of the IPL 2023 which is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on May 1.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first. Apart from him returning to first XI, RCB also welcomed Karn Sharma and Josh Hazlewood in the XI keeping the Lucknow pitch in mind. LSG, on the other hand, dropped Avesh Khan and brought in K Gowtham.
RCB posted 126/9 with Faf top-scoring with 44 and Virat Kohli making 31. After their 62-run opening partnership, LSG spinners showcased their prowess and tied the RCB batting down. Naveen Ul Haq, picked three wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra took two wickets apiece.
In response, Mohammed Siraj removed Kyle Mayers on the first ball of LSG innings and shortly after, Krunal Pandya fell for 14 runs after hitting three good looking boundaries.
In an effort to loft Glenn Maxwell to the off-side, he only manage to scoop a catch to Virat Kohli on the boundary, who gladly accepted the catch.
However, interestingly, Kohli turned around and blew kisses towards the crowd in Ekana Stadium and also made the finger on the lips gesture, something LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had done post LSG’s brilliant win over RCB in Bengaluru.
