The IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 were played in UAE and partially in India, while the IPL 2022 was played exclusively in Maharashtra, with the playoffs conducted on other grounds as well.

However, with the effect of the COVID pandemic almost negligible, the BCCI has gone back to the home-and-away format of the tournament.

Many also believe that this will be MS Dhoni’s swansong in the IPL, as the 41-year-old former India captain had wished to say goodbye to the fans at the franchise’s home ground of Chennai.
