Providing an update on Prithvi Shaw’s health, Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant on Monday (May 16) said that the opening batter is 50-50 and the team would get to know more in a few days’ time.

Shaw, 22, was recently discharged from the hospital after being treated for typhoid. He has already missed DC’s last four games and was last seen in action against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 1.

In his absence, the Capitals gave KS Bharat an opportunity to open alongside David Warner but that move didn’t work out.

On Monday, DC brought back Sarfaraz Khan to the playing XI and the youngster produced 16-ball 32 at the top after Warner was dismissed for a golden duck.

"I think he's 50-50. We'll know in a few days' time," Pant said at the post-match presentation after DC’s 17-run win over PBKS.

This was the first time that Delhi Capitals won back-to-back matches in the ongoing season. They rode on Mitchell Marsh’s 48-ball 63 to post 159/7 on the board.

With the ball, DC restricted PBKS to 142/9 in 20 overs. Shardul Thakur starred with the ball for DC, returning with the figures of 4 for 36 in his four overs. The spin duo of Akshar Patel (2-14) and Kuldeep Yadav (2-14) also bowled exceptionally well, sharing four scalps between them.

“Throughout the tournament we have been losing one, and winning one game. That's something we wanted to change as a team and we got it,” Rishabh stated.

“We saved him (Kuldeep) for back half, then the dew came in so we didn't want to give a massive over for someone. It's a 50-50 call. The only process was to take it deep, with spinners getting help and we saw the same pattern happen with the other team as well,” he further said.

With this victory, Delhi Capitals moved to the fourth spot on the points table and kept their playoffs hopes alive. The Rishabh Pant-led side will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last league match on May 21.
