Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Kumar Sangakkara opined that the umpires control the game and he cannot dictate what is acceptable and what is not. This came after the DC camp including captain Rishabh Pant raged after a no-ball was not given when Rovman Powell hit a high full toss for a six in the IPL 2022 encounter between DC and RR.
Jos Buttler's third IPL 2022 century and Prasidh Krishna's three-wicket haul helped Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in a high-scoring match at the Wankhede Stadium.
However, the end to the match came in an exciting way as after Prasidh Krishna had bowled a maiden over in the 19th over of the match, Obed McCoy was hit for three sixes on his first three balls by Rovman Powell. But the third six came off a waist-high full toss which DC camp and both the batters in the field thought should have been a no-ball.

But the umpires didn’t though so and the match was interrupted for a few minutes as Rishabh Pant gestured to his batters to come off the field and then assistant coach Pravin Amre came out to have chat with the umpires.
In the end, calm prevailed and DC couldn’t get back the momentum they had and lost the match.
In a virtual press conference, RR head coach Kumar Sangakkara opined on the whole issue and said that umpires do the controlling and their decisions should be respected.
"I think it is the umpires that control the game. There is a lot of pressure and tension in the IPL. Things can go either way, when you have a situation like that, in the end, the umpires control the situation. And the game went on. That's how I look at it. I don't think I can really dictate what is acceptable and what's not," said Kumar Sangakkara in a press conference.
"At the end of the day, it is the players out there who play and the umpires have a tough job in terms of calling the game, and our job as support staff is basically to support the players out there and let the game be played," said Sangakkara.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royal's all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday said that the last over of the match against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was 'topsy-turvy'.
"The last over was topsy-turvy. I was having my fingers crossed. Devdutt Paddikal was standing at the Point and he kept asking me if it was really happening (Delhi winning in the last over) and I kept telling him that it is not happening," said Ashwin in a post-match interview.
Praising pacer Obed McCoy for his performance in the last over, Ashwin said, "It is never easy to bowl the last over. Obed did a fantastic job. He looks big but is really a young guy. I think he held his nerves well at the last three balls."
The spinner said that he has found a great partner in Yuzvendra Chahal, remarking that the bowler understands the game and batters really well.
"We have had great discussions off-field and have on-field communications with Sanju (Sanju Samson) too," he added.
Rajasthan Royals have won their fifth match out of seven and they have now gone to the top of the table.
