IPL 2022: BCCI changes venue for DC v RR match from Pune to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

This was done to avoid COVID infection risk in DC camp during bus travel to Pune.

DC v RR match shifted from Pune to Wankhede, Mumbai | BCCI-IPLThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced a change of venue for Match No. 34 of the ongoing IPL 2022 between Delhi Capital (DC) and Rajasthan Royals RR) from MCA Stadium, Pune to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai scheduled on April 22th, 2022.

This was done to avoid any risk of COVID-19 infection after the DC camp saw their sixth COVID positive case when New Zealand’s Tim Seifert tested positive in RT- PCR test was done in the morning ahead of the Delhi Capitals versus Punjab Kings match on April 20, 2022.

The entire Delhi Capitals contingent underwent 2 rounds of COVID testing today. Match No. 32 involving Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings scheduled today at Brabourne – CCI will go ahead as per the schedule after the second round of COVID tests returned negative today.  

This came after Mitchell Marsh was hospitalized due to a COVID infection and four support staff members including physio Patrick Farhart tested positive from April 18 onwards. This had led to the DC vs PBKS match being shifted from Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
