IPL 2022: "Would like to see Rishabh Pant playing his natural game for DC"- Ravi Shastri

IPL 2022: "Would like to see Rishabh Pant playing his natural game for DC"- Ravi Shastri

Rishabh Pant's DC are at 8th spot in IPL 2022 points table with 2 wins in 5 matches.

Rishabh Pant has not been performing up to his potential in IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals' (DC) captain Rishabh Pant's batting has been a bit subdued in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), scoring 144 runs with a strike rate of 146.94 and an average of 36.

However, we are yet to see Pant at his destructive best, as he has tried to bat with a more conservative approach keeping in mind the team's needs.

But Former India coach Ravi Shastri reckons that Pant should forget about batting responsibly and just play freely, as this brings out the best in him. He also claimed that it will boost him in captaining the team better.

"What I would like to see with Delhi is Rishabh Pant coming and playing his natural game. Forgetting that he is the captain of the side, just let him go out and play his natural game. Let the others around him take the responsibility, because if he fires it will do his captaincy a world of good and at the same time you will see the results changing for Delhi Capitals pretty quickly," Shastri said while speaking on the Gameplan episode on Star Sports.

Shastri went on to explain that Pant's batting was good, but that he needed to adjust his mindset.

"I don't think there is any problem with his batting. I think it's just a change of mindset that is needed, where he goes out and gives himself a little bit of time early on and then goes for it. There are no half measures. The Rishabh Pant you know is Rishabh Pant where there are no half measures. He plays the high-risk shots, he takes his chances and you want him to play in that fashion because that's what brings out the best in him," he concluded.

Delhi Capitals will face Punjab Kings in their next match at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday.
