The 6th match of the IPL 2022 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clashing with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. KKR was coming into this match with a win over CSK, while RCB had lost a high-scoring encounter to PBKS.
Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB went in unchanged, while KKR included Tim Southee in place of Shivam Mavi.
Much was expected from the aggressive KKR batting lineup, but the RCB bowling kept picking wickets at regular intervals to hamper their progress. Ajinkya Rahane (9), Venkatesh Iyer (10), Shreyas Iyer (13), and others got started but failed to continue further.

Andre Russell top-scored with 25 runs as Wanindu Hasaranga came to the party with 4/20 in his 4 overs, while Akash Deep (3/45) and Harshal Patel (2/11) also picked wickets. Umesh Yadav with 18 and Varun Chakravarthy with 10* took KKR’s final total to 128 in 18.5 overs.
The cricket fraternity was in the applause of the RCB bowling effort and lauded Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel on social media.
