IPL 2021: 'Getting Rohit out in any format is good; he is a key wicket for MI', says Sunil Narine

Rohit Sharma scored 33 runs in the match against KKR.

Narine celebrates Rohit Sharma's wicket with captain Morgan | BCCI-IPLKolkata Knight Riders (KKR) managed to restrict Mumbai Indians (MI) to a below-par 155/6 in 20 overs after electing to bowl first in Abu Dhabi on Thursday (September 24). Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy spun a web around MI and conceded only 42 runs in eight overs between them.

Narine provided the first breakthrough, an important wicket of MI captain Rohit Sharma, and returned with figures of 1/20 in four overs, earning him the Player of the Match award.

The mystery-spinner said that it was good to take the wicket of Rohit Sharma in any format of the game. He added that good outing in The Hundred and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) helped him gain momentum for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

"I'm coming off a good amount of cricket in the CPL and The Hundred. It's getting better and better. It has taken me a while with this new action and I have put in a lot of work into it. Getting Rohit out in any form of cricket is good; he is a key wicket for Mumbai," Narine said after the game.

Narine felt that his spin-twin Chakravarthy is a quick learner.

"Varun is someone who likes to know about the game and he likes to know what will happen. He is a quick learner and he has far to go," he pointed.

The West Indian added that the pitch was flat but was not an easy one to bat on.

"I wouldn't say this pitch was sticky. It was flat but not as flat as last year. My batting depends on what my team requires, if they want to go at the top or at the end, I'll do it."

KKR leaped to the fourth position after winning the match with seven wickets and 29 balls to spare. They have started the second-leg in style with two comprehensive wins over RCB and MI. They face a strong Chennai Super Kings (CSK) next, on September 26.
